Thanks guys, and don't be afraid to keep the comments coming!Īlright, I'll give a quick primer on pitch types because no one else has done so yet. I'd put baseball at the bottom of the list as far as the four big sports go for me, but even being a neutral fan in that series (though rooting for Texas more than the Cards), I can say there are few moments I've seen live in sports more incredible. My main concern with going with any other team is that I would get to see far less of their games.Īlso for those wondering, I didn't watch much of the past postseason, the odd handful of innings here or there, but I paid a good deal of attention to the World Series, and yes, watched the gongshow that was game six. I'll also look into some of the books you guys reccomended and that baseball documentary that was suggested.įor those wondering, I live in Ontario so my main inclination would be to go with the Jays, especially beucase thats the team I basically watch anyways when I do rarely watch (plus I have a couple friends into them), but I guess I won't pick a real allegiance until I really get into it. I'll also check out fangraphs, and I'm already a bit accustomed with baseball reference so that should help. Would you guys reccomend getting 2k11 on the cheap or waiting for 2k12? My main concern would be potentially out of date rosters (though I guess they'd be pretty precise next to free agents who signed elsewhere this offseason). I have a 360, which is too bad because I've heard The Show is definitely the best in the business, and I've heard mixed opinions on the 2k series, but I guess thats my only option. The fantasy league/video game suggestions are something I will definitely look into, I have experienced their teaching ability firsthand with hockey and football. Nice to see yet another pro sports subreddit with a community that puts r/nba to shame. Thanks.ĮDIT: Wow, was expecting some good feedback but not to this magnitude. Any guidance you guys could give me would be great, links, books, or just your own pointers. I'm talking the difference between pitches, how to play in different situations, the big names, the CBA, and maybe most importantly stats (I understand stats are used to analyze baseball more than any other pro sport). I understand the basics (positions, outs, scoring, things like that) but not the deeper things that really help you understand the game. I'll watch baseball here and there, maybe a few games every year, but this summer I at least want to try watching more of it. 2023 StandingsĬlick a team's logo to visit their subreddit National League West news rumor opinion analysis trivia Serious image video gif game thread feature notice misleadingĪround the Horn general discussion thread - June 29, 2023 Welcome to /r/Baseball!
